It’s been six months since a vehicle has been produced at the Mitsubishi plant in Normal.
Tuesday is the final day for the small number of workers who stayed behind to finish odds and ends at the plant.
Maynards Industries and Assets Corporation has purchased the plant and will take possession Wednesday. The new company owner tells WJBC they are a liquidation company. If they do find a buyer, the public may not know until it’s a done deal. He said if there is an auction it will be advertised nationally.
The new owner says the 2.5 million square feet size of the 28 year old building may the biggest obstacle in finding a buyer.
