Normal – More than one hundred people with Autism, their families, and supporters gathered in Uptown Circle Saturday.

They were celebrating the success of McLean County’s Autism Friendly Community status.  Throughout Autism Awareness Month in April  businesses in McLean County were recognized for their efforts to make people with Autism feel comfortable. Others who supported making McLean County Autism Friendly were also recognized.

The group gathered in Uptown Circle to recreate the Autism Friendly logo. Participants wore different colored shirts that represent what makes those with Autism unique.

Autism McLean has been serving the community for 14 years.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
