NORMAL – The Normal Town Council will vote Monday on an amended intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation regarding the tracks at Uptown Station.
City Manager Mark Peterson explained this deal originally included a pedestrian overpass for the tracks, but since that project has been put off, they need to alter the agreement.
“We are now just moving forward with the work on the (south) platform as well as the renovation of the old Amtrak station,” said Peterson. “In fact, we received bids a few weeks ago and the low bidder and the contractor was approved by the council at the previous meeting.”
Those contracts went to River City Construction for $2.5 million.
Peterson added he’s still not sure when some type of pedestrian crossing at the tracks will happen.
