Man identified in death near Danvers

DANVERS – Police in Tazewell County conducted an autopsy on Sunday on the man found dead near Danvers on Saturday.

Tazewell County coroner James Baldi said the body of James VanHook, 79, was found on Saturday afternoon. The body was discovered underneath a bridge in rural Danvers.

According to WMBD, Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Sheriff’s office are investigating the death.

Officials haven’t disclosed where VanHook lived but say he was from McLean County.

Bloomington city officials have confirmed VanHook was a police officer with the city from 1960 to 1988.
