Jane Ellen Casson, 62, Chenoa, died at 1:36 p.m. April 13 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury with Pastor Tom Krieger officiating.  Burial will be in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church.  The family suggest memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Jane was born Nov. 14, 1953 in Bloomington the daughter of George P. and Velda M. Westermeyer Powell.  She married Terry Lee Casson on April 2, 1977 in Chenoa.  He survives in Chenoa.

Other survivors include two sons, Curt Alan (Jennifer) Casson, Lexington; Kent Powell (Rebecca) Casson, Fairbury; five grandchildren, Ella Rose, Chloe Jayne, and Liam Edward; Kasen Johnathan and Kenadee Ann; one brother, Thomas L. Powell, Macomb; one sister, Jorj Ann (Tom) Higgins, Chenoa; a very dear father-in-law, Dale Casson (Donna Dixon), Fairbury; mother-in-law, Jeannine Perez, Loretto, Mexico; special aunt, Marilyn “Mudgie” Kellar, Colfax, sixteen nephews and nieces; and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Jane was a 1971 graduate of Chenoa High School and attended Illinois Community College and Eastern Illinois University. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury where she had served as a deacon, was active in the Dorcas Circle, taught Sunday school and gave special children’s sermons.  A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she enjoyed assisting in the family farm operation particularly by preparing “field” meals.  Jane’s greatest role was “Grammy” and her five grandchildren were the lights of her life.  Friday night was date night with her husband Terry.  Date night was most often spent at Bernardi’s in Pontiac.

Jane was a beautiful person inside and out and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
