Dixon gets 14 years for drive-by shooting

BLOOMINGTON – Anthony Dixon, 25, of Normal, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for injuring a man after firing a gun from a car into a group of people in the 1500 block of Northbrook Drive in July 2014.

Dixon pleaded had previously pleaded guilty to aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm, but as part of his plea deal attempted murder charges were dropped. The deal also called for a sentence of no more than 30 years.

Shawndell Wright, 19, was shot twice in the back during the incident, but did survive his injuries.

Dixon said he takes full responsibility and knows he should have acted differently.
