BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington’s mayor is putting to rest a rumor all employees at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum will have to find new work because of the new managers.
The city has hired VenuWorks to replace Central Illinois Arena Management. Mayor Tari Renner said the only people who won’t stay on are department heads.
“They have a no-compete clause in their contracts, so they can’t be hired,” he said.
Renner added VenuWorks will keep those workers on at least 90 days before deciding whether to keep them on permanently.
“And then they can decide, do they like each other?” said Renner. “But nobody is losing their jobs, besides the five department heads.”
Friday marks the official switch over to VenuWorks as the venue’s manager.
