NORMAL – O’Brien Mitsubishi in Normal is donating $30,000 to the American Red Cross of Central Illinois.
The funds will help with the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, which is aiming to reduce home fire deaths by 25 percent in five years. The campaign first started in 2014.
O’Brien General Manager Ryan Gremore called the Red Cross a “vital part of the community.”
“It was just something that we felt drawn to. We’re excited to support efforts and organizations like the Red Cross that are so impactful to keeping the community where we want to be safe, but a place where we want to live,” he said.
The donation is in partnership with Mitsubishi Motors USA Foundation.
“The foundation and the dealership is very community minded,” said Gremore. “We feel it’s our responsibility to give back to the community that’s given so much to us.”
As part of the campaign, members of the Red Cross and O’Brien Mitsubishi will be going throughout the Twin Cities on Saturday and installing smoke alarms. Gremore said their goal is to reach 150 homes and install 330 alarms.
