BLOOMINGTON – Accused murderer Kirk Zimmerman will be allowed to have an ankle monitoring device removed in order to go through a medical procedure.

The ruling was made by a McLean County judge in a hearing Tuesday. Zimmerman, 58, is charged with first degree murder for the death of his ex-wife, Pamela Zimmerman, in November 2014.

Zimmerman’s attorney said in a hearing last year his client has cancer, but further details on his condition have not been discussed publicly.

The monitoring device was placed on Zimmerman when he was released from jail on bond in November 2015.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
