BLOOMINGTON – A wheelchair-bound pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Sunday evening in Bloomington has died from his injuries according to city police.
Bloomington Police say the man was crossing at Main and Wood streets before 8 p.m. Sunday when a turning vehicle knocked him down. The pedestrian, a 63-year-old man from Bloomington, suffered a head injury but was alert at the scene. Police say they were told several hours later that the man’s condition worsened, and the department was told Wednesday that he had died.
Police report no criminal charges against the driver were warranted after talking to witnesses and reviewing video but he was ticketed for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
More information is expected to be released by the McLean County coroner’s office on Thursday.
