The Bloomington Thunder captured a 3-2 win in a shootout over the Lincoln Stars on Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
After a scoreless first period, Bloomington’s Patrick Curry tallied a power play goal on assists from Jeremy Davies and Brogan Rafferty 3:02 into the second period. William D’Orsi tied the game for Lincoln with 4:41 left in the period, but Sean Harrison netted a go-ahead goal 36 seconds later assisted by Mitchell Chaffee and Davies for a 2-1 Thunder lead at the second intermission.
D’Orsi tied the game just a minute into the third period, and the score remained 2-2 through regulation and overtime. Tarek Baker and Jake Slager scored in the shootout while winning goalie Hayden Lavigne stopped both Lincoln tries after registering 21 saves during regular play.
Bloomington is now 33-18-3 while Lincoln falls to 31-21-2. The Thunder return to action at Dubuque on Friday before hosting Madison on Saturday.
