BLOOMINGTON – It’s not certain whether anyone will ever be charged for the damages left in a cemetery following the Donald Trump rally in Bloomington this past weekend.
McLean County State’s Attorney Jason Chambers explained in order for his office to push forward with charges they need more than just a license plate to charge a person.
“It’s one thing for police to do an investigation and then if they can identify people they can forward it on to us,” said Chambers. “In order for us to go forward with any sort of prosecution, we have to be able to identify the individuals who did it.”
Chambers said having a license plate might be enough for civil liability.
The damaged was left in East Lawn Cemetery, which is nearby Central Illinois Regional Airport where the Trump rally was held.
