Woman involved in 2 car crashes sentenced to prison on DUI charges in McLean County

BLOOMINGTON – A McLean County judge has sentenced a Schaumburg woman to 4½ years in prison for her role in a crash that left a passenger paralyzed.

Judge Casey Costigan handed down the sentence on Friday against Ashley Trenholm, 23, and ordered her to pay close to $300,000 in restitution to the victim’s family. She had pleaded guilty in December 2014 to aggravated drunk driving charges for a December 2013 crash which injured Jesse Sternberg of Schaumburg.

Trenholm herself was injured in a separate car accident several days after she appeared in court for a sentencing hearing on the DUI charges.
