NORMAL – Unit 5 had a long list of parents address concerns over possible changes to school start times during its Board of Education meeting this week.
Board member Denise Schuster said it’s “fantastic” to hear from the community about such important topics.
“Ultimately, we are elected to represent the community’s best interests and make decisions that are for the best of all of our constituents,” she said.
Schuster said when parents care enough to share how they feel about such an important decision, it helps the board make the best decision possible.
The board was discussing the proposal as a way to alter its bussing system to help cut into a $1.3 million deficit in the transportation fund.
