Bernard M. “Ben” Pietrowiak, 94, of Bloomington, passed away on March 2 at 11:54 p.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington with Rev. Jeff Windy officiating. Following services the entombment will be held at Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington and also one hour prior to service on Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Ben was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Green Bay, Wis., a son of John and Anna Pietrowiak. He married Leola M. Hiller Dec. 20, 1949. She preceded him on April 3, 1992.
Ben is survived by his two daughters; Wendy (Tim) Duffy, Bloomington and Kathryn Pietrowiak, Tariffville, Connecticut. Also surviving is one grandson, Michael Duffy and five nieces and their families.
He is preceded in death by two sisters; Elizabeth Pietrowiak and Esther Martell.
Mr. Pietrowiak retired from GTE, now Verizon, in 1979 with 32 years of service. He was a Veteran of WWII, and served in the US Army in the European Theater of Operations.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church where he served as an usher for several years. He was also a member of the Father Carmody Council No. 6498 of the Knights of Columbus; the Walter G. Wright Telephone Pioneer Chapter where he served as Secretary-Treasurer for six years; The Golden “K” Kiwanis Club; The St. Vincent DePaul Society of Holy Trinity Church where he volunteered in the Food Pantry for over 15 years. He served on the Board of the local Alzheimer’s Corn Belt Chapter for 6 years and co-chaired the annual Memory Walk in 1995 and 1996.

Connie S. Schwartz 55, of Hudson, died March 1 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
According to her wishes, no funeral service will be held. A Celebration of Connie service will be scheduled at a later date. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CISAR Animal Shelter or Home Sweet Home Mission.
Connie was born March 27, 1960 in Chicago, a daughter to Luther and Emmajean Darrow. She married Gary L. Schwartz on May 16, 1981 in Bloomington.
In addition to her husband Gary, she is survived by her father Luther Darrow , Jamestown, Tenn.; one brother Dan Darrow, Scottsville, Ky.; two sisters, Lola (Dan) Augstin, Bloomington and Anna Darrow, Hudson, and sister-in-law Jan Darrow,Hudson. Connie loved her many nieces, nephews and their families. She also loved her special cat, Pete.
Her mother and one brother, Frank Darrow, preceded her in death.
Connie was employed by Country Companies and graduated from Illinois State University in 1994. She was named Outstanding Undergraduate for the College of Business Administration that year. She worked for Chestnut Health Systems as office administrator for ten years. Due to illness, she left work and continued a life of giving,including volunteer work counseling newly diagnosed cancer patients. She had a deep love of all things Christmas and belonged to the local Hallmark Dreamers Ornament Collectors Club. Her joy of decorating made every day a holiday with Connie. She and her husband made many trips to Disneyworld at Christmas and a 30th anniversary trip to Alaska. She also visited London highlighted by a trip aboard the Hogwarts Express. We will be forever grateful for the chance to know her wonderful spirit and mischievous smile.
