BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington woman was hospitalized in a fire that damaged a duplex on Thursday night.
Fire crews were called to 64 Vermont Ave. in northwest Bloomington at 10:23 p.m. for a fire in the basement of the two-story home. Fire officials say two people were home when the fire started. A woman was taken to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. Her condition isn’t known.
The blaze was quickly extinguished. There’s no damage estimate available yet. The cause is under investigation.
The American Red Cross of the Heartland was brought in to offer assistance to the displaced residents.
