BLOOMINGTON – The winter weather is causing some problems on the roadways.
Bloomington Public Works Director Jim Karch said one problem is with blocked traffic signals.
“Because of the wet snow and the snow blowing from the north, the traffic signals, mostly along Veterans Parkway and Towanda Barnes, they’re experiencing conditions such that the snow is covering the traffic signal head,” Karch said. “So that it makes it at times difficult for drivers to see the green, yellow and red.”
Karch said that’s not across the board, but drivers should still be careful.
“Drive more carefully on those roads, give some additional slow down time and give yourself some additional buffer along those roads just to increase safety,” Karch said.
Karch said its difficult to have city workers clear the snow from the traffic lights because they would have to block the intersection to do so.
