HEYWORTH – Heyworth has fired its police chief.
Chris Lane had been chief for nine years. City officials haven’t said what led to his dismissal.
City attorney Geoff Dodds tells WJBC the village board will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when acting mayor Todd Zalucha will publicly state the reason for the dismissal, which is required as an appointed employee.
The board would then have authority to overturn the mayor’s action if four of six members vote to do so.
