BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington-Normal Hazmat Team is investigating after a patient arrived at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center’s emergency room.
A news release said the patient was concerned about being exposed to an unknown substance. The patient was examined by medical staff and those staff members started showing symptoms similar to that of the patient. The patient was quarantined and went through a decontamination process.
That patient is being admitted for observation.
The news release said there is no risk to the public. However, the substance has not been identified.
The emergency department did not close and continues to treat patients.
