Willie Bowie
Willie M. Bowie, 69, of Bloomington passed away on Feb. 12 at 10:40 p.m. in Bloomington at Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Hallelujah Worship Center in Bloomington with Pastors Dana & Jackie Dunson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11: 00 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. The family has entrusted Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington to handle arrangements for Willie’s service.
Willie was born on June 12, 1946 in Warren, Arkansas a son to Willie M. and Ruth (Gardner) Bowie.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his father, Willie M. Bowie of Warren, Arkansas; three sisters, Barbara Bowie of Chicago, Maxine Bowie King of Chicago, and Mary Ann Bowie of St. Louis, Mo.; his son, Khary (Coretta Jackson) L. Bowie of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Khary R. Bowie, Kh’mara K. Bowie, and Cearra Jackson all of Bloomington; and the mother of his child, Margaret Pitchford of Chicago. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Gardner Bowie, and one niece, Kimberly Bailey.
Willie grew up in Warren, Arkansas and attended Bradley County High School. After graduation he moved to Chicago. He worked as a CNA for many years at Margaret Manor in Chicago he later retired from the Rehabilitation Center in Chicago. He moved to Bloomington in 2007 to be closer to his son and family.
He enjoyed playing the lottery and truly loved dancing and music, especially Smokey Robinson. Willie was a kind man and was the life of the party, he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He enjoyed attending services at Hallelujah Worship Center.
