DOWNS – Cornerstone Christian Academy near Bloomington is celebrating a series of gifts that will enable the school to build an addition.
Development director April Kinzinger said the shell for the addition which was built in 2008 will soon have new biology and chemistry labs, new administrative offices and more classrooms.
“It’s taken us this long to get it done but we are doing it without debt,” Kinzinger said. “We have just expanded as the Lord has provided funds for us.”
Kinzinger said the school has received about $600,000 through private gifts in recent weeks. It was spearheaded by a donor who asked that their gift be matched, which the school’s supporters did.
“When we had the first donor step up, then I just simply sent a postcard out to all our families, and our constituents and said ‘We have exciting news. We’d like to match this gift’ and the money just started coming in,” Kinzinger said.
The gifts will also pay for a new geothermal field and an outdoor storage building. Work is scheduled to begin in April and be finished this summer.
“We’re excited to see how God moves in the hearts of our donors to give,” said Head of School Doug Pavey. “Since we do no fundraising events, we know without a doubt that it’s the Lord who provides for us.”
