NORMAL – The Normal Town Council will vote Monday on approving new parking restrictions on two streets.
On North Normal Avenue between the 500 and 800 blocks, parking would be banned on the east side of the street between 6am and 9am except on Saturdays and Sundays. Meanwhile, parking on the west side would be banned at all times.
Deputy City Manager Pamela Reece said that change is to allow for better waste collection on the street.
“When they put their trash receptacles at the curb, public works was having a hard time accessing them,” she said.
Changes are also being considered on North School Street.
“The change there, between Locust and Mulberry, is primarily to accommodate, just, additional traffic – people having a little easier access in and out of some parking lots,” Reece said.
The proposal calls for allowing parking between Mulberry and Locust Streets on the east side, and banning all parking on the west side of the street.
