BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington City Council will consider a bulk waste fee at Monday night’s meeting.
The first two buckets of bulk waste the city picks up from a particular residence each year will be free, then it will be $20 for the next bucket after that and $40 dollars for every bucket after that.
Assistant City Manager Steve Rasmussen said picking up solid waste costs over $1.5 million more than what the program brings in.
“It really is just a question of how much service do you want to provide residents and where does the money come from,” Rasmussen said.
Residents can continue to drop off their bulk waste at the city’s Public Works facility for free under the proposal. Rasmussen says it could increase revenue by $180,000.
