BLOOMINGTON – U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Peoria) was in Bloomington Friday afternoon to help cap off National Catholic Schools week.
“National Catholic Schools week is to honor those folks,” said LaHood. “Having the experience I had, it’s important to let them know how important they are, the great work they do here in Bloomington-Normal, and their commitment and dedication to Catholic schools.”
LaHood, who went to a Catholic grade school, high school, and college, spoke to teachers from all of Bloomington-Normal’s Catholic schools during a luncheon at Corpus Christi Catholic Elementary School. He talked about the impact his education has had on his life.
“How you treat people. How you interact in society,” LaHood said.
LaHood added his experiences have helped him in the successes he’s had in his life and also taught him how to deal with adversity.
