BLOOMINGTON – The District 87 school board is preparing to choose two new board members for their Feb. 10 meeting.
Superintendent Barry Reilly said the board will have to make some tough decisions in choosing the new members.
“I thought that on paper, the candidates that came in and those that I met seemed very qualified,” Reilly said. “They seemed like candidates who are interested in serving the community and our school district. I think that’s a great thing.”
Reilly said he was happy with the number of applicants.
“I was surprised to get nine,” said Reilly. “You usually get that many if there’s a particular issue going on, but I was pleased that all of them had every quality you want in a school board member.”
The new members will replace president John Dirks, who resigned at the end of 2015, and board member Judith Webster, who resigned earlier this month.
