SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner failed to address the budget impasse during his State of the State address. That’s what the Responsible Budget Coalition says.
Spokesman Neal Waltmire said the Governor didn’t offer any solutions to the stalemate that’s entering its 8th month, but the legislature hasn’t done much, either.
“It’s not on just one party to solve this issue. Every legislator ought to feel some personal responsibility for not getting a budget done,” Waltmire said. “Not choosing revenue over these budget cuts.”
Waltmire said closing tax loopholes, specifically for business that create jobs in other states, and a service tax are some ways to generate revenue. He also said an income tax increase should also be considered.
