SPRINGFIELD – President Obama is coming to Springfield to address the General Assembly. Press Secretary Josh Earnest says the visit is to “build a better politics and one that reflects our better selves.”
The visit comes nine years after Obama announced his candidacy for President in Springfield.
He was elected to the state Senate in 1997 and served in Springfield until he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004.
