SPRINGFIELD – Technology is starting to speed up the blood donation process.
Mindy Melton from the Central Illinois Community Blood Center said electronic tablets will be introduced soon, allowing donors to avoid the paperwork.
Melton said photos will also become part of the process.
“And your photo will be saved in our database and we can better identify our donors when they donate,” said Melton. “These new systems are going to make things much easier, it’s a very fast touchscreen thing and the thing we are most excited about is it’s going to save on any errors that are made.”
Melton said it will prevent a lot of the follow up phone calls that have happened in the past.
