BLOOMINGTON – The United Way of McLean County has raised $3.5 million with its “Live 80, Give 8” campaign.
President David Taylor said that’s over $500,000 less than recent years, but there were still some positives with the fundraising campaign.
“More than 80 organizations within the community were able to increase their giving,” Taylor said. “About 25 percent of those organizations increased it by that ‘Live 80, Give 8.’ They increased, by eight percent or more, their investment in the community through their campaigns.”
The local United Way was hoping to boost its contributions to local non-profits in the area by eight percent to celebrate its 80th anniversary, but Taylor said the charity will fall short of that. The campaign officially wraps up March 10.
