BLOOMINGTON – The Multicultural Leadership Program is in its fifth year and one team working with the program, called F.I.V.E. Project Milestones, is looking at new revenue generating options for the the Milestones Learning Center.
“One thing that they do is they provide childcare to low income families and families that can also pay full price,” said team member Alex Jackson. “We’re trying to find a more sustainable way to find that revenue, along with their government funding.”
Jackson’s fellow team member Darrell Richards said the Multicultural Leadership Program has done a good job of letting participants be a more enhanced and diverse version of themselves for the community. He added a big challenge right now is understanding what individuals can do to improve the community.
“This program is doing a great job of really assessing the servant leader, becoming that situational leader, and broadcasting how we can become that beacon – that ray of hope,” said Richards. “Just really spreading the message.”
Jackson said one way to fight any diversity issues in the community is to simply make people aware of the fact Bloomington-Normal is becoming more diverse.
