BLOOMINGTON – Overall crime was down again in Bloomington in 2015.
That’s according to Police Chief Brendan Heffner. He told WJBC’s Susan Saunders a combined effort between his officers and residents which helped bring crime down.
“We appreciate citizen’s help. I, obviously, appreciate the hard work of the officers,” said Heffner. “And you always have to have a little luck.”
Heffner added the number of car thefts was up during the year. Heffner explained residents leaving their cars unlocked definitely enabled many of those thefts.
“Honestly, we recovered a majority of them because that was not necessarily the intent when the vehicles were entered,” he said.
Heffner encouraged residents to make sure their cars are locked with any valuable items out of sight.
