BLOOMINGTON – If your New Year’s Resolution was to eat better and lose weight, you may already be thinking about cheating.
Hy-Vee Dietician Stefanie Djuric said extreme dieting will never last.
She said you should work in foods that you crave.
“What can happen then is if tell yourself you can’t have your Hy-Vee Chinese anymore that makes you crave it even more,” said Djuric. “Maybe you can eliminate it from your diet for a couple weeks or maybe even for a month, but eventually you’re going to go back and eat even more than if you tell yourself you can have it once a month or whatever you decide you are comfortable with.”
Djuric says be careful of foods labeled, “Low fat.” She says eating a large portion of those foods can keep you from meeting your calorie goals.
