LINCOLN – Central Illinoisans enjoying a mild winter can prepare for the first snow of 2016.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Special Weather Statement in which it says McLean County and much of Central Illinois could get two to four inches of snow on Saturday.
The weather service said a storm system is expected to push out of the Southern Plains on Saturday and track northeast toward the Ohio River Valley. Ahead of the storm system, rain is expected to develop Saturday morning and into the afternoon hours.
A band of moderate snowfall will occur roughly along the Interstate 55 corridor where two to four inches could accumulate by Saturday evening. Accumulations will range from one to two inches along and west of the Illinois River.
