Has your business or farm been damaged because of recent floods?
Save those receipts.
Despite a full budget there could be help through the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. That’s the message from Governor Bruce Rauner who called his vacation short to tour various areas of the state hit hard by winter flood waters. During a visit to Riverton in Sangamon County Sunday the governor said there may be some state money available for businesses and farms negatively impacted by the recent flood.
We do have some pockets of available money potentially in the Department of Commerce and Economic opportunity to help some small businesses and farmers recover,” Said Rauner. We’ll see what we can do in that respect. We don’t know at this point. We are trying to assess the damage and get some financial measurements”
Meanwhile Rauner says emergency response has not been affected because of the six-month-old budget impass due to recent agreements at the statehouse allowing for money to be allocated towards local first responders.
