Dr. Alfred L. Kaisershot, 81, of Normal, passed away at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal with Rev. Eric Powell officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Epiphany Catholic Church.
Alfred was born November 6, 1934 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Frank and Mary Karsky Kaisershot. He married Violette M. Mayer on August 20, 1956 in Lefor, ND. She survives.
He is also survived by six children, A. Kevin (Jamie) Kaisershot of Aurora, Tami (John) LeClaire of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kyle (Mary) Kaisershot of Northglenn, CO, Kent (Jami) Kaisershot of Morton, Kenley (Lori) Kaisershot of Normal and Tara (Chad) Bahnks of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren, 3 grandchildren and 2 on the way; and 6 siblings.
Alfred received his undergraduate degree from Dickinson State College, his master’s degree from the University of North Dakota and his PhD at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Alfred was a professor of Business Education at Illinois State University for twenty five years, retiring in 1995 as the Business Education Department Chair.
Early on in his career in North Dakota, Alfred was a founding member of the Royal Melody Orchestra, where he played lead trumpet. He was also a 3 time World Horseshoe Pitching Champion.
Alfred was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Epiphany Catholic Church, both in Normal.
