NORMAL – The Normal Town Council will vote Monday on approving a contract with a new company to process the area’s electronic recycling.
The town handles collection of the electronics for the whole county and then has an outside company process it. Vintage Tech had been handling the job, but City Manager Mark Peterson explained that company is moving in a different direction.
“We issued a RFP (request for proposals) and got four responses from four different companies; all appear to be reputable,” said Peterson. “The only one that’s located in Illinois was in Pontiac, Ill., a company called Advanced Technology Recycling (ATR).”
A two year contract with ATR has been proposed.
“We’re estimating $63,000 a year, a little over $5,000 a month,” said Peterson. “That’s an estimate based upon anticipated quality, so that could be a little higher (or) a little lower depending on what the volume is.”
Peterson called ATR a “reputable company,” which the town has worked with before.
