BLOOMINGTON – The Salvation Army of McLean County and Bloomington’s Wehrenberg Galaxy 14 Cinema are teaming Saturday up for the annual Cans Film Festival.
Salvation Army Director of Development Angie Fulton explained locals can participate by bringing five canned food items to the theater between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and in return they’ll receive a free ticket to a matinee show. The canned items go towards the Salvation Army’s food drive campaign.
“If you bring in 10 more cans, so a total of 15 cans, you get a ticket for that day and a pass to come back for another movie in the next couple months,” Fulton said.
The event brought in 8-thousand cans last year.
“We have seen this around 20,000, or over 20,000, in past years,” Fulton said.
Wehrenberg Theatres has hosted the Cans Film Festival for over 30 years nationwide.
