NORMAL – Illinois State University and a hazmat crew investigated a suspicious package on the 4th floor of Schroeder Hall Thursday afternoon. The floor was evacuated.
The Hazardous materials team tested the package and found that it was not a danger. University Street was closed between Dry Grove and College Avenue for several hours.
The Normal Fire Department said the package at Schroeder was delivered through the mail. Three people were in the room and were isolated as a precaution. The Bloomington hazardous materials team investigated the package and gave the all clear just before 7 p.m.
