BLOOMINGTON – Home Sweet Home Ministries is closing in on its goal for the annual Give Thanks campaign.
“Things are looking really good,” said Communications Coordinator Chyanne Corrigan. “At this point, we have a little over 1,700 turkeys. So, just, even in these past few days we’ve had over 200 turkeys come in.”
The goal is to collect 2,000 turkeys to help provide Thanksgiving meals in the next week. Corrigan said the response of the public to the annual campaign has been “amazing.”
“One thing I love about my job is that I get to hear about that’s everything coming in, and I get to talk to people as they come to Hy-Vee and say, ‘Well, here, let me go buy 10 turkeys,’” she said.
Turkey donations can be made by purchasing turkey cards at Hy-Vee in Bloomington, or dropping off a turkey at Home Sweet Home or the Midwest Food Bank. Saturday is the first day for meal distribution. Meals will also be handed out on Monday.
