NORMAL – Heartland Community College is headed to mediation with its faculty union. A meeting date is scheduled for Tuesday between the college and the Heartland Faculty Association.
Jane Camp, vice president of public relations for the union, said Heartland offered a one percent raise this year and a half percent raise next year in its latest offer, but that’s not enough.
“It doesn’t even keep pace both with our other colleagues and it doesn’t keep pace with the cost of our insurance,” Camp said.
Camp said the union is looking for a 4.75 percent raise this year.
89 faculty members represented by the union have been working without a contract since June 30.
