NORMAL – The budget impasse continues in Springfield, but one lawmaker remains hopeful.
Illinois is in its fourth month without a budget. State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) told WJBC’s Dan Swaney lawmakers can eventually pull together to pass a spending plan.
“Of course there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s how quickly we can get there in the most positive framework possible,” said Brady. “I’m always hopeful. Anybody who’s not hopeful shouldn’t run or serve in public office.”

Brady added there isn’t a lot of “animosity” among lawmakers so much as there are philosophical differences.
“It’s just that the Democrats have had it their way for 12 years. They’ve borrowed, and spent, and taxed, and they’re just not ready to realize they can’t continue to do that yet,” he said.
Brady said legislators are realizing everyone is partially to blame for the stalemate and that they all need to pull together to approve a budget.
