IEMA providing online security tips for Cyber Security Awareness month

BLOOMINGTON – October is Cyber Security Awareness month.

Patti Thompson, spokesperson with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, said the agency is going to post online safety tips throughout the month on their website, ready.illinois.gov.

“Tips like regularly updating your (mobile) device with the latest operating software and enabling encryption so the information on your device is as safe as possible,” Thompson said.

Thompson said other tips will include how not to fall victim to phishing attacks and how to protect your information on social media.
