Jeannette Wilcox, 92, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Sep. 6 at the Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington with Pastor Vaughn Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Entombment will be at Park Hill Mausoleum in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or the Letitia Green Stevenson Chapter of the DAR.
Jeannette was born on Oct. 15, 1922, a daughter of Wickliffe and Edna Larrick Warfield. She was born near Circle, Montana where her parents homesteaded until 1931 when her father passed away and her mother then moved the family to Cerro Gordo, Ill.
During her freshman year at Illinois State University Jeannette met and eventually married Richard Wilcox on Oct. 28, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo. He died on June 16, 1993.
Survivors include her children, Margaret Currie of Scottsdale, Ariz., Richard (Leslie) Wilcox of Flower Mound, Texas, and David (Teresa) Wilcox of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bonnie Neff and a son in-law, David Currie.
Jeannette was a Charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church; active in the DAR serving as Regent for two years; and past President and Woman of the Year in 1973 for the American Business Women’s Association.
Mrs. Wilcox worked at Admiral Corporation for many years before retiring in 1984. She also volunteered for the Star Literacy Program teaching adults to read.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bloomington Rehabilitation for all the care that was shown to Jeannette.
Her family and friends gave her joy and made her life meaningful. She loved them all and knew they loved her.
