PEORIA – The Catholic Church has removed a Peoria priest who has previously served in Chenoa and Lexington.
In a news release from the Diocese of Peoria, Father Terry Cassidy can no longer function as a Catholic priest following allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor dating back nearly 30 years ago. The diocese isn’t saying where the misconduct allegedly occurred, when the allegations were made or how many reported victims there are.
Cassidy was the pastor of Saint Ann Church in Peoria. He was assigned to Saint Joseph’s Church in Chenoa and Saint Mary Church in Lexington in the late 1990s.
According to the news release, Bishop Daniel Jenky continues to pray daily for all victims of sexual abuse and apologizes for the abuse.
