Lottie M. Brown, 89, of Normal, passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 20 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
Per Lottie’s wishes, a private family interment will be held at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lottie was born on Dec. 28, 1925 in Brownstown, Indiana, a daughter of Clifford and Matilda Niewedde Sterling. She married Wallace G. Brown on Sep. 15, 1944 in Wyoming, Illinois. He preceded her in death in June 1986.
Surviving are her children, Bev (David) Oliver of Bloomington, Richard W. (Patti) Brown of Oxford, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Shawn (Joe) Sternbauer of Schaumburg; great grandson, Joey Sternbauer; three sisters and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and two brothers.
Lottie was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking, puzzles and was an avid reader. She enjoyed having her granddog, Brandy visit her and her friends at the nursing home. Sunday outings with her daughter were very special to her. Lottie always had a smile on her face and always answered “you bet”.
She was a volunteer at Mennonite Hospital gift shop for many years.

Michael W. Rabbe, 68, of Normal, formerly of Mason City, died at 11:35 a.m. on Aug. 19 at his home, surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with Rev. Peter Weeks officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private interment will be in Mason City at a later date. He was born Feb. 15, 1947 in Pekin, son of William and Vera Imig Rabbe. He married Holly J. Treadway on Aug. 16, 1969 in Rockford.
Surviving are his wife, Holly, of Normal; two sons, Clint Rabbe of LeRoy and Luke (Lindsay) Rabbe of Danvers and two grandchildren, Marlowe and Fiona Rabbe. Also surviving are two sisters, Janis Robertson of Mason City and Carole Fletcher of Wellington, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son, Todd.
Michael graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Mathematics. He taught math and science courses for 31 years, first at Wapella High School and later at El Paso High School, retiring in June of 2003. After his retirement, he loved to travel with his wife, Holly.
He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomington. He also enjoyed being outdoors and was a member of the National Rifle Association. His greatest enjoyment came with being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Sonja Scott
Sonja Scott, 76, of Fairbury, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Aug. 20 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pontiac. Pastor Mary Kay Henson will be officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m., Sunday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pontiac or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Sonja was born Feb. 19, 1939, in Fairbury , the daughter of Roy and Bertha Hoover Boles.
She married William “Bill” Scott, Jr on Aug. 23, 1959, in Fairbury. He passed away May 21, 2013.
Surviving are her daughter, Sheila (Joe) Doran of Forrest; grandchildren, Kenzie (Brandon) Burke, and Colin Doran all of Forrest; great-grandchildren, Tracen and Joey Burke.
She was preceded by her parents and one sister, Mary Freeman.
Sonja worked in accounts payable for Fairbury Hospital and then Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community where she retired in 2004.
After retiring you could still find Sonja volunteering at Meadows. She also enjoyed volunteering for Fairbury American Red Cross with bloodmobiles.
She is a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pontiac.
Sonja enjoyed golfing, was a very good baker, and loved fashion and shopping.
Sonja was a caring and loving woman who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with her family and babysitting her great-grandchildren meant the world to her.
