Joseph D. Green, 75, of Normal, died on Aug. 16 at his home in Normal, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with Monsignor Eric S. Powell officiating. A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, where the Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m by Deacon Michael An. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. He was born March 12, 1940 in Bloomington, son of Joseph and Dessie Broom Green. He married Helen Hurtado on Feb. 20, 1961 in Yuma, Ariz.
Surviving are his wife, Helen, of Normal; his daughter, Frances (Gregory) Tierney of DeKalb and three grandsons, Connor, Ethan and Aaron Tierney. Also surviving are his sisters, Betty Keas and Rose (Art) Johnson, both of Las Cruces, N.M. and Donna Smith of Pontiac and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joan Arbuckle.
He is a United States Marine Corps veteran.
Mr. Green enjoyed a long career at General Telephone in Bloomington and Pontiac as an equipment installer. He retired in 1997 after 35 years of employment.
He enjoyed playing ping pong, billiards and tennis, but his greatest enjoyment came with spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
