DANVILLE – An Illinois State Police trooper has been arrested after an altercation at a Steak ‘n Shake in Danville.
Trooper Cody Garza, 28, of Braidwood was arrested on a count of reckless discharge of a firearm while Casey Mason, 27, of Danville is in jail on charges of aggravated battery to a police officer and disarming a police officer.
The Champaign News-Gazette reports the two men were arrested around 4 a.m. Sunday after a report of shots fired. The paper reports Garza told officers that an argument turned into a physical altercation and Mason tried taking the officer’s gun.
