The St. Louis Cardinals and their new acquisition Brandon Moss will open a four-game weekend series against the Colorado Rockies at Busch Stadium.
Moss was acquired early Thursday in a trade with the Cleveland Indians. Moss, 31, was batting .217 with 15 home runs and 50 RBI in 94 games with the Indians this season, ranking 8th among American League outfielders in home runs and 10th in RBI. The left-handed hitting Moss, who was an All-Star for Oakland last season, has hit 20 or more homers in each of the past three seasons, including a career-high 30 for the Athletics in 2013.
Moss is expected to provide some addde punch to a struggling lineup that is leading with injuries to Matt Adams and possible Matt Holliday.
