MANSFIELD – A man who was killed in a crash on Interstate 74 in Piatt County on Sunday was the director of the Kentucky Opera.
According to Illinois State Police, David Roth, 56, was killed when his Hyundai Elantra ran off the road struck a ditch, became airborne and hit a tree head on at about 9 p.m. Sunday. Roth was rushed to Carle Hospital in Champaign, where he was pronounced dead.
A spokesperson for the Kentucky Opera told the Champaign News-Gazette Roth was heading back to Louisville after and visiting family in Wisconsin.
