DELAVAN – Hard work continues in the city of Delavan as they recover from last week’s tornado. Mayor Liz Skinner said receiving any money from FEMA is unlikely.

“We did have representatives from IEMA, from the state who were there and they were very supportive,” said Skinner. “I’m not encouraged that money will be coming our way.”

Mayor Skinner is reminding the public to be aware of scams following last week’s tornado. Skinner said you should consult the city’s website or call the city to make sure your donation goes to the right place.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
